Oreck Felt Inlet Seal - XL2...

Product details

Part 430000882 is the felt seal at the intake of the Oreck XL21-600ECB upright, and the same seal is used on the BK95519 and the Hoover CH95519. Felt rather than rubber: it fills the gap between the nozzle inlet and the duct it feeds.

Felt seals work by staying slightly compressed. Over a few years the fibers pack down, harden, and take a permanent set, and once the felt stops filling the joint the machine draws part of its air from the seam instead of from the floor. That leak is invisible and easy to blame on the bag, so people change bags twice before they find it: suction feels soft, and edge pickup goes vague.

Clear packed dust out of the seat and press the new felt in evenly. No tools needed for this one.
