Product details

Every cubic foot of air a Kirby Generation 3 or G4 moves has to travel through a single sealed chamber first, the housing the fan itself spins inside. Part 119789S is the direct replacement for that housing.

Housings crack most commonly right after a fan blade has already let go and thrown a fragment on its way apart, or from a sharp knock against furniture or a stair edge. A cracked housing leaks air out at the break point rather than pulling it all through the nozzle the way it should, so the machine loses suction even though the motor and fan themselves are perfectly fine. A warped or worn shell produces a similar effect without any visible crack at all, letting the fan spin slightly out of true and shed efficiency over time.

Whenever a broken fan brings you to this part, check the housing at the same time, whatever destroyed one has usually left marks on the other, and dropping a new fan into a damaged housing only finishes half the job. Verify the machine is a Generation 3 or G4 first, this particular shape does not interchange with the Generation-series machines built after it, and ordering the wrong housing means a return trip before the repair is actually done.

  • Part: 119789S, fan case housing
  • Fits: Kirby Generation 3, G4
  • Function: sealed chamber the fan spins inside
  • Symptom of failure: suction drops with no change in motor sound
