Oreck Outer Bag Retainer Sp...

Product details

This is the spring that clamps the outer cloth bag to the fan housing on Oreck's 8300 and 9000 series uprights, part 430000954, also sold as 75015-01 and 010-8418. The same spring is listed for XL uprights including the XL2600HH.

All it does is hold tension, and after a few hundred bag changes it stops doing it. A stretched or broken spring lets the mouth of the bag creep off the housing, and once that joint opens, dirty air escapes at the neck rather than being pushed into the bag. It usually shows up as a film of fine dust on the outside of the machine and suction that has quietly gone soft.

It is small, cheap and easy to fit while the bag is already off, which makes it worth doing at the same time as an outer bag rather than a month later.
