This genuine OEM Oreck motor assembly (part #09-75505-02) is the grooved-shaft version built for the Oreck U2000RB and U2000EB uprights. The motor drives the suction fan and, through its grooved shaft, turns the belt that spins the brush roll.
Loss of suction, a burning electrical smell, or unusually loud operation usually means the motor bearings or windings are failing. A motor at this stage leaves carpet ungroomed and can eventually stop entirely. Fitting the correct grooved-shaft motor restores full airflow and brush drive.
