The friction-fit end pushes onto a compatible 1-3/8 inch wand without a locking button, so tool changes are a straight push and pull rather than a press-and-release. That makes it faster to swap between a floor nozzle and a crevice tool mid-clean, though it also means the connection relies on a snug fit rather than a mechanical lock.
