Product details
This dirty water tank is the recovery container on the Bissell TurboClean Pet carpet cleaner, SKU 164-4044. It holds the used cleaning solution and soiled water pulled up from carpet and upholstery during a cleaning pass.
Bissell lists this tank for models 3939, 3939C, 3942, 3946, 3948, 3949 and 3952. The tank lifts out for emptying and rinsing between uses, and it has to seat and seal again when it goes back on: a tank that is not sealing costs the machine suction and can let dirty water escape.
Rinse the tank after each use and let it air dry before the next cleaning session. Dried cleaning solution left to harden on the tank's sealing surfaces is a common reason a tank stops seating flush, and it produces the same suction loss and leaking symptoms as a worn gasket even though the plastic itself is fine.
