Product details
The bottom dump bucket is the removable canister that catches everything drawn into a Canavac XLS-970 or XLS990 central vacuum power unit before it reaches the motor. It latches to the underside of the power unit body and pops loose for emptying, so this single component takes the daily wear of every cleaning session.
Central vacuum canister systems route debris from every inlet in the house through buried tubing to one power unit, and the bottom bucket is the only stop along that path a homeowner opens by hand on a regular basis. Everything upstream, the tubing and the inlet valves, is meant to go years without attention, while the bucket takes daily wear from emptying and reseating.
Fits Canavac XLS-970 and XLS990 power units. The bucket needs to seat and latch tightly against the upper body for the system to hold vacuum. A bucket that has warped, cracked at the latch tabs, or lost its gasket surface will let air bypass the filter path, and the whole house loses suction even though the motor and pipe network are fine. Homeowners usually notice this as a sudden drop in pull at every inlet rather than one weak spot, which is the tell that the leak is at the canister seam and not out in the tubing.
- Fits: Canavac XLS-970, XLS990
- Type: Bottom dump bucket, sold separately from the power unit body
- Function: Collects debris and seals to the upper body to maintain vacuum
- Replace when: Cracked, warped, or no longer latching flush
Emptying is a straightforward release-and-dump design, no bag or filter change involved at this stage of the system. If the bucket you are replacing has been repaired with tape or clamps to hold its shape, that is usually the sign it is past the point of sealing reliably, and a new bucket, listed under SKU 30190-25, is the more durable fix than another patch.
