Central Vac Pipe Nail Guard...

Product details
A nail guard is a small stamped metal plate that mounts over a stud face wherever central vacuum pipe or low-voltage wire crosses behind it, so a drywall screw or trim nail driven into that stud hits the plate instead of the tubing or wire behind it. Once walls are closed up, a pipe run is invisible, and a single puncture means opening drywall to find and repair the leak.
Each guard measures 1.5 by 2.75 inches, sized to cover a standard stud face at the point where a pipe or wire crosses it rather than the whole stud. This box holds 100 guards, enough for a typical residential rough-in with pipe crossing multiple studs on its way to each inlet.
- Size: 1.5 in x 2.75 in per guard
- Quantity: 100 guards per box
- Material: Stamped metal plate
- Use: Mounts over studs where pipe or low-voltage wire crosses, ahead of drywall
A stud finder or a simple visual check during a walk-through before drywall closes the wall is the easiest way to confirm every crossing point actually got a guard, since it is far cheaper to catch a missed spot at that stage than after the wall is finished and painted. Keep the leftover guards from the box on hand for any future work near the same wall, since having matching plates ready saves a second order for a single missed spot.
Installing a guard at every crossing point is standard trade practice for central vacuum rough-ins, and it is far cheaper to nail one on during framing than to cut open a finished wall later to patch a punctured line. Listed under SKU 33450.
