This is a wood-core brush roll, also called a beater bar, machined to Eureka's 14.5 to 15 inch length and stocked here as part 60909-3, which crosses to Eureka's own 60909-4, 60909-2, and 62352-2 numbers.
It fits the Eureka SC4570, SC4580, C4571, GE5500, GE5550, HP5555A, HP5505A, and S4170 uprights. The wood core keeps the roll rigid and true at speed, and the bristle rows set into it comb through carpet pile to break loose dirt, sand, and pet hair that airflow alone won't pull free.

A wood beater bar can crack or split at the bristle sockets after years of service even when the bristles themselves still look serviceable, so inspect the core for cracks along with checking bristle height when deciding whether to replace it.
