DCS is Lindhaus's dry cleaning system, and the brush is the tool that drives it. Lindhaus's own method is to vacuum the carpet first, spray its crystal detergent evenly so it reaches down into the fibers, then work this brush across the pile in both directions for a few minutes. After roughly twenty to thirty minutes the liquid has turned to salt crystals that have taken up the soil, and the carpet is vacuumed again to lift them out.
Because the brush is corded and self-driven, its wear points are the belt, the bristle roller and the shoe plate rather than anything in a vacuum's airflow. Check the roller for flattened or matted bristles and the shoe plate for worn edges, and replace those as they go rather than waiting for a failure part-way through a job.
