Protect buried central vacuum pipe from stray fasteners with these nail-on safety plates from MD Central Vacuum, SKU 550. Each steel plate measures 1-1/2 x 5 inches and hammers directly onto wood framing wherever vacuum tubing passes through a stud or plate — shielding the pipe so screws and nails driven later cannot penetrate into the line.
One box covers a whole installation: 100 plates per box, enough to guard every drilled stud on a multi-inlet system. Home improvement stores sell these plates one at a time; this contractor box keeps the price per plate down and the supply in your kit.
