This genuine VacuMaid 24V relay (Part #P12592C) is the switching component that lets the low-voltage control circuit start and stop the high-current vacuum motor. When a hose is connected at a wall inlet, the 24-volt signal energizes this relay, which in turn closes the contacts that power the motor.
A failed relay is a classic cause of a central vacuum that clicks but won't run, runs continuously, or no longer responds to the inlets. Because the relay handles the motor's heavy current load, its contacts wear over time, making this a common service part. Replacing it restores reliable on/off operation without touching the rest of the power unit.
